BELGRADE 1988

...thank God days before the game the talks in Matejusica and Bona (Not to todays Bona, thats how the cafe in Matejusici was called), because the preparation was needed...because the police use to get us before and come to our house (I have to add when they came to deceased Leski's home: two of them come into his house, he was asleep, his parents woke him up, so all tired he went to the living room and sat at the table and then he saw two policemen sitting there with his parents, and his dad sad to his mom "Marija, give me and Zlatko (Leska) 2 rakije (strong alcohol), and give two glasses of water to our friends, because they are work and can't drink...his dad is a legend ha ha ha )...so the police made up this plan to stop us from going to Belgrade. But we went anyway (fuck it, there were always those who would tell the police something, sometimes accidentally, once on Zvoncaca, near Jadran's pool's, someone wrote "Dead to Jews"...and the cops picked up the whole younger crowd and gave them a pen and a pencil to write "Dead to Jews" so they can compare it...I still can't believe that)...Anyway, we got in the train, there was a good group (fuck it, who was there that was it, there was no other way to get there)...standard for Belgrade, 100 of real people...to Knin it was classis, songs, jokes, drinks, and everything in between...it was never that quiet in Knin, even at the train station there, there was no one, not even those idiots that would yell out bullshit, while behind the police. So the local policeman comes to us and says: "guys, a group of Red Star fans will join this train, please behave and be peaceful, they will be in two carriages in front of you (back then the trains had 15 carriages), and the doors between the carriages will be locked up". Group already started to get anxious, lets get them, lets fight them...We smarter ones started to make up a plan, we'll be travelling the whole night, when a conductor gets in, he'll have to leave them open by mistake, if not, in Vinkovci, the train will be on stand still for 45 minutes, we would get in, and bash them...and thats how it was. I went to the toilet and accidentally push the doors between the carriages...and it opened..., how sweet, so I went through, all quiet and after 2 carriages, near the toilet, there are brothers with scarves talking in the hall outside of separate seating departments... one of them must have seen me. So I go back and tell my group, and when we went back there again, there was no one there...the hall was empty! So we started searching in separate seating departments. We open one doors, some older people, we open another door, some normal travellers, so we open another doors and there they were, 6 of them on each side, they were, sitting, all quiet, they have nothing on them, they were scared shitless...So we started asking who are you, whats up, where are you going, do you have anything in your bags...and they said 'nothing'. There was a plastic bag under the seats in which you usually carry fruits, all the scarves where there, and a big red & white banner. What is this?, what the fuck...and then the braves one stood up (later on I found out that he's from Vodice) and said to me: "don't brother, we're all Dalmatians", and when he said that, my hand went by itself, I didn't punch him at all, but I smacked him so hard that it started to echo. So after that my group started going on others, to bash them, but we didn't irritate them or something, they just go a couple of punches and that was it. And now there was a problem, Sljivar and Mrduljas found out that we took their banner (that was in between Sl. Brod and Vinkovci) and that they were going to call for back up to take it back. So we started the discussion, if we're going to take it with us to Belgrade, and set fire to it on stadium, or to throw it out of the train. Common sense won, so we threw it out of the train, so that neither of us have it, because in Vinkovci it is exactly what happened. Police everywhere, searching , they took us out of the train, placed us on the side and searched us, importantly a bit of them won't go with this train. After 45 minutes, how long the train stood there, a funny thing happened. The train needed to go, but all of us were outside at the station, our followers, Sljivar and Mrduljas tired, and as the train started to go - we were into going in, and they get in, and get off it again, then again get in and get off while looking at us, so for the last time they jumped in, and saw that we didn't get in...and then the revenge started, Sljivar only managed to yelled out "You'll see about this and about the things that happened before, only if you come to Belgrade..." to me. I understood it perfectly. So I had the chance to stay in Vinkovci and go back home, or to continue on with some other train, and I decided to continue on. With some shitty local train, it went through Sid, Mitrovica (There even some Torcida joined in), Ruma, Pazova, Zemun, tunnel and finally... On the station there was maximum security, a fly couldn't get past them, they organized themselves to transfer us into the buses which were waiting in the front of the train station. So they put us in, and takes to police station. I accidentally didn't have any other documents with me except for passport, so I gave it to the cop, and he sad "What now ustase, you started to carry passports around, you've seperated from the country already, is that it?" From our whole group, they separated only four of us, Bosna, deceased Leska, one guy from Vinkovci and myself. Downstairs in some basement, their orders were to take our shoelaces off, and take off everything above the belt. We knew what was coming, but couldn't give a fuck, we were ready. So as we went through the hall, and on the both sides of the wall there were cops with their bats , and as we passed each one of them, he hits you, then they locked us up, with the standard bullshit talk from them. That we're going to end up in prison for a couple of years and that kind of crap. Three of us didn't care much about their talk, because we knew that they were full of shit, but the guy from Vinkovci got scared a bit, even started crying at one point.
When the game finished, they let us go back with the train with the others. The only thing that I feel bad about is, that it was the only time I've been to Belgrade while not attending the game.
